11:47 | Puno (Puno region), May. 26.
Culture Ministry representatives headed to Puno region to provide humanitarian aid and prevention materials as part of the actions taken under "Antes Peru" (Peru Ahead) —a multi-sectoral mitigation plan driven by the government.
The aim is to minimize frost and friaje (cold spell) consequences in the area.
The S/100-million (about US$30.75 million) plan includes actions to deliver:
warming kits, food, housing, productive development, health, education, transport and electrification services to vulnerable populations across 16 regions.
Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage and Cultural Industries Jorge Arrunategui will hand over sheds to livestock producers in Paratia district (Lampa province) within the next few hours.
Such delivery will be made in coordination with Agriculture Ministry and is set to benefit cattle, sheep and South American camelids (alpacas).
Producers will also be given vet kits including vaccines, fertilizer kits, food, grass seeds and shed material.
On Thursday, Arrunategui met with local authorities to provide warming kits to families across Capaso, Conduriri and Santa Rosa districts.
Containing sheds, blankets, fleece tracksuits and boats, the kits were aimed at 5-year-old kids and seniors.
