Peru: Credit to private sector expanded last Jan

In January 2017, total credits to the private sector expanded 5.5% in annual terms, Peru's Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported.

It must be noted said credits were granted by financial institutions, also including municipal and rural savings banks.

By currencies, Peruvian Sol-denominated credits experienced 6.5% annual increase, while US Dollar loans expanded 3.1%. 

Moreover, credits to businesses grew 4.7% annually, whereas loans to individuals increased 7%. 

Credits to small and micro-enterprises experienced annual expansion of 8.2% last January. Meanwhile, credits to large companies and corporations grew 5%. 

As for natural persons, consumer loans rose 8.6% in the analyzed month, while mortgages registered an annualized growth rate of 4.8%.
