The copper production increased by 21.3% in April 2015 compared to the same month last year, informed the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).

The result was due to a higher exploitation in regions Junin (255.4%), Cusco (56.6%), Ancash (25.7%) and Moquegua (7.5%), which accounted for 69.2% of the total production.
Similarly, mineral exploitation increased in Cajamarca (10.9%), Tacna (5.9%), Pasco (5.8%) and Ica (4.8%).
On the other hand, production decreased in Ayacucho (-45.2%), Arequipa (-37.4%), La Libertad (-20.2%), Huanuco (18.7%), Puno (-12.9%), Lima (-5.8%) and Huancavelica (-1.7%).
