In the early hours of today, the Peruvian Congress approved, by a majority, the Public Sector 2016 Budget Bill that amounts to S/.138.4 billion (about US$41.34 billion) and prioritizes resources to face public safety, boost infrastructure works and consolidate social inclusion, among other things.

Chairman of the Parliament Budget Committee Teofilo Gamarra informed a special bonus will be granted to administrative and jurisdictional staff at the Judiciary Branch and Public Ministry subject to the regime specified in Decrees 276 and 728.
  
It also allows the military jurisdiction to be exempt from current economic restrictions for the implementation of the fourth tranche of salary increase.

Gamarra announced Supreme Court judges serving more than 5 years in office will be granted a bonus as well.

The budget bill was passed with 54 votes in favor, 33 against and four abstentions.

They also approved a Public Sector Law on Indebtedness for 2016 by 85 votes in favor to 8 against, and passed the Law on Indebtedness and Financial Balance, by 82 votes against 10, with one abstention.
