A second imported Zika virus case was reported on Thursday in Peru, the Health Ministry confirmed.
The virus was found in a Peruvian citizen who spent his vacations in Margarita Island (Venezuela).
According to Health Deputy Minister Percy Minaya, the 35-year-old male is going through the last phase of the illness.
It must be noted the risk of Zika virus transmission has been ruled out in Lima. Thus, the case was deemed as "imported."
Detection was possible thanks to the surveillance system implemented by the Ministry at health centers located across the country.
The measure is aimed at preventing an outbreak.
