The government of Peru expressed on Tuesday its deep concern over the atrocious terrorist act committed by the Taliban inside a school in Peshawar in northwestern Pakistan. As a result, more than a hundred innocent people were killed, including 132 children.

The Peruvian government issued an official statement to express its firm disapproval of any terrorist act, method and practice that undermines democratic values and peace and that hampers the enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms.

“These attacks weaken the basis of any society and seriously affect the development of States,” it stated.

To this end, Peru conveyed its heartfelt condolences and expressed its solidarity to both the families of the victims and the Pakistani government.

Insurgents attacked an army-run school in Peshawar Tuesday and went on an eight-hour massacre, considered the deadliest ever attack by the Taliban.

The media reported that more than 150 people are injured as a result of Tuesday's attack and that at least six children in a local hospital are in critical condition.
