Peru condemns North Korea nuclear test

15:01 | Lima, Feb. 13 (ANDINA).

Peru on Wednesday condemned North Korea's third nuclear test, saying it put at risk peace, security and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the Pacific region.

Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the test blast on Tuesday took place despite efforts by the international community to contain the spread of nuclear arms.

"The government of Peru calls on the government of North Korea to immediately stop these types of actions," the foreign ministry said, adding that it wants North Korea to return to a dialogue process to find a solution to the dispute over the nuclear arms.

A spokesman at the North Korean embassy in Lima said he had no knowledge of the condemnation, Dow Jones Newswires reported.
