The Peruvian Government has expressed its condemnation of the drone and missile strike launched by Iran against Israel and asked the United Nations (UN) to take action on the matter.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru also called for ending violence in the Middle East.

"Peru condemns the attack launched today (on Saturday) against Israeli territory and the escalation of violence in the Middle East," the statement reads.

Appeal to UN

In this regard, the government agency urged the United Nations Security Council "to adopt immediate and decisive decisions."

These decisions must be made "in accordance with its mandate in pursuit of international peace and security."

In this sense, Peru invokes the Charter of the United Nations to "immediately cease the violence."

Likewise, it demands that "the principles of international humanitarian law be complied with without distinction."

On Saturday, Iran launched drones and fared missiles at Israel, in retaliation for the strike on its embassy in Syria a few days ago.
