Peru and Colombia have agreed to share the facilities and infrastructure of their embassies and consulates in third countries, the Peruvian Foreign Ministry announced Wednesday in a statement.
The arrangement was finalized with a bilateral agreement signed during the 20th High-Level Group Meeting of the Pacific Alliance (PA), being held from November 25 to 29 in Chile's capital Santiago, Xinhua news agency reported.
The move will facilitate a larger global presence for both countries, as well as enabling them to give better attention to their expatriates in different parts of the world, the ministry said.
It was also the first agreement of its kind between the two countries within the framework of the PA, a mechanism for economic and trade integration established on June 6, 2012, which includes Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
The accord paves the way for Peruvian embassy representation at the Colombian embassy in Ghana, while Colombia will be allowed to use Peru's embassy in Vietnam.
