The Chinese delegation showed interest in Peruvian food at the Expoalimentaria 2015 food fair due to the series of meetings held with national entrepreneurs, Peru's Exporters Association (ADEX) affirmed.

Diana Pita, Peru’s official Trade Adviser in Beijing indicated that Asian entrepreneurs were able to establish contact with companies in charge of trading products and processed foods made with coffee, cacao, dried fruits, quinoa, maca and pisco among others.

The Asian enterprises -which participated in the rounds of negotiations- were previously selected by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and validated by ADEX. According to the guild, the Chinese mission was one of the largest that joined the event.

Coffee and cacao

One of China's main importers was Linyi International. Lu Xi, head of the company's Coffee and Cacao Import Department, informed about the need to communicate with Peruvian suppliers.

Likewise, she highlighted the quality of Peruvian coffee.

According to the ADEX Data Trade Business Intelligence System, Peruvian food exports to China reached US$ 2.478 billion in the first half of 2015. Grapes, avocados, mangos, asparagus, squids among others stood out.
