On the sidelines of the official visit of Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang to Peru, governments of the two countries signed 10 cooperation agreements, foremost among which is the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on feasibility studies of the railway link between Brazil and Peru.
Such memorandum was inked between Peru’s Ministry of Transport and Communications, led by Jose Gallardo, and the National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China.
Its official name is Memorandum of Understanding on Joint Conduction of the Basic Feasibility Studies for a Bioceanic Railway Connection.
A total of ten cooperation agreements were signed to bolster industrial, economic, technical, transport, energy, education, health and human assistance investment.
One of the accords involves Lima-based Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and the South China Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, intended to establish a joint molecular laboratory.
Likewise, the National Water Authority (ANA) and China’s Institute of Statistics, Planning, Design and Research signed a specific agreement to conduct a study of comprehensive management assessment and planning of water resources in southern Peru at the level of river basins.
The National Commission for Aerospace Research and Development of Peru and the China National Space Administration signed an agreement to explore outer space for specific purposes.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru and the China Three Gorges Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding to establish cooperation mechanisms for the development of Peru’s energy sector.
In addition, Peru’s Ministry of Agriculture and the Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China inked a protocol of phytosanitary requirements for the export of Peruvian Hass avocados to China.
Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Development and Reform Commission of China agreed to implement a memorandum of understanding on the strengthening of industrial investment cooperation.
Furthermore, Peru’s Ministry of Women and China’s Ministry of Commerce signed a report of delivery of a batch of biomechanical wheelchair equipments.
Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China inked a note on donation of goods and human assistance for high Andean towns. An economic and technical agreement was signed too.
