Thirty-three Peruvian companies closed business deals worth US$70 million with Asian counterparts during business roundtable held in Beijing as part of Expo Peru China trade fair, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported.
According to Mincetur's head Magali Silva, the roundtable, which took place from July 15-16, was expected to generate US$20 million in deals, but the figure has almost quadrupled.

Likewise, the high level official pointed out that the most sought-after products at the two-day fair were dried fruits and vegetables, maca, quinoa, trout, cotton and alpaca clothing.

Silva, who heads the Peruvian delegation, said that China became the Andean country's largest trading partner between January and May after the United States, although this trend will likely continue through the year.

Expo Peru China will also take place in Shanghai from July 17-18. The trade fair seeks to position the Andean country as a supplier of high quality products and services, as well as a popular tourist destination in the Asian market.
