Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) installed a total of 16 tourism-promoting billboards comprised in the "Two Worlds Encounter" initiative, it was reported.

The measure was implemented in coordination with Cajamarca's Tourism Products Committee.

"Cajamarca, City of Two Worlds Encounter" aims at drawing population's attention to revalue and protect their heritage.

"It is a relevant project focused on the historical event with analysis of pre and post-Hispanic pasts, which has contributed to recovering evidences of the encounter between two worlds," Cajamarca Decentralized Culture Directorate (DDC) Director Carla Diaz Garcia told Andina news agency.

The episode intends to show not only the Ransom Room as top icon, but also the Main Square, which hosted the meeting between Incas and Spaniards; the Inca Road and Baths complex, among other relevant sites.

Boards will also contribute to guiding tourists throughout history while promoting tourism development. A total of 16 billboards were placed at the Historic Square.
