Business confidence in Peru and other countries from around the world reached US$817 million in the first half of the current year, which represented an increase by 17% compared to the same period in 2014, Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva announced.

During the first six months of 2015, the market volatility registered in different nations did not lead to affecting Peru's export expectations. On the contrary, efforts to intensify the export promotion have been strengthened, the Minister said.

In the analyzed period, over 1,103 Peruvian enterprises have participated in international activities related to promoting the exportable supply. Those were organized by PromPeru and the Peruvian Commercial Offices based abroad [OCEX], she pointed out.

Silva went on to add the Peruvian exporters work by putting a “long-term vision” in practice while having the current market volatility in mind, as well as the need to maintain the  reputation earned in countries considered as main business partners, Silva indicated.

“The situation led us, along with entrepreneurs, to design new promotion actions, which comprise highly-specialized trade missions to be developed in the U.S., Europa, Asia […],” she stated.

Since 2011, Mincetur through PromPeru (Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board) has been carrying out a reengineering process for the Peruvian participation in international fairs.

It must be noted in 2015 almost 500 export-promotion-related activities will be carried out by the 36 OCEXs and Promperu.
