Peru: Budget allocations worth over US$12 mn. for hiring of new teachers

Peru's Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) authorized a S/.39,965,911 (about US$12.49 million) transfer from the 2015 public sector budget to regional governments with the aim of hiring teachers.

In that sense, the investment will enable to fill 3,866 positions at public elementary and technical schools.

According to the document, such resources shall not be allocated for any other purposes.

The Supreme Decree was signed by the President of the Republic, Ollanta Humala; and Ministers of Finance, Alonso Segura; and Education, Jaime Saavedra Chanduví.

The measure intends to boost education in the country. It should be noted the Executive Powers invests 3.5% of GDP in education.
