The Government's recently-awarded Regional Broadband Project will benefit over 360,000 residents from 505 communities located in Northern regions Tumbes and Piura, Peru's Transport and Communications Minister Jose Gallardo Ku announced on Monday.
Thanks to this initiative, inhabitants will be granted access to internet and high-speed intranet.
Likewise, Gallardo indicated that connectivity will allow to bring tele-education, tele-health and security into the benefited areas in the future.
Thus, the population will experience life quality improvement, by relying on access to more information for carrying out economic activities.
The said project –awarded to Redes Andinas de Comunicaciones enterprise— also provides equal opportunities and social benefits to 513 schools, 254 health centers and 35 police stations, the official explained.
It must be noted it will entail an investment worth US$98,505,650.
At the same time, the Minister informed such regional telecommunication projects complement efforts undertaken by the Government through his portfolio.
The Regional Networks will contribute to expanding broadband provision to 21 regions of the country.
