The Governments of Peru and Australia on Wednesday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a working holidays exchange program, Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry reported.

The initiative will allow up to 100 Peruvian youth (aged 18-30) to travel on holidays and get a temporary job in Australia for up to a year.

Participants will also be able to study in the Oceania nation for a maximum of four months.

To be eligible for the program, candidates must be proficient in English and must have completed at least two years of university studies.

The MoU stipulates the same benefits and conditions for the same number of Australian citizens.

The document was signed by Peru's Ambassador to Australia Miguel Palomino de la Gala and Australia's Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection Alex Hawke at the headquarters of the Australian Parliament.

It is worth noting the instrument will strengthen Peru and Australia's bilateral ties by promoting tourist and cultural exchange, as well as growing mutual understanding between the countries' youth.
