President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's government is committed to taking more Peruvians out of poverty while making sure no one is left behind, Peru's Development and Social Inclusion Ministry affirmed at the United Nations 55th Session of the Commission for Social Development.
In this sense, the Ministry called upon governments to bolster communication with populations to learn about their needs and design policies accordingly.
"It must be clear that there are neither standardized policies nor one-size-fits-all formulas to eradicate poverty," Minister Cayetana Aljovin noted.
"Instead, we must take on the commitment to strengthen dialogue with our populations in order to learn about their needs," she stressed.
Likewise, she ratified Peru's commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as expressed by President Kuczynski during his address at the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly last September.
As part of her presentation, Aljovin also presented Peru's social policy priorities, highlighting specific actions to reduce urban poverty and close gaps in access to water, sanitation, electrification and telecommunication in the country's cities.
To conclude, the cabinet member underlined the business sector's growing involvement in social policies, since the government is "convinced that its contribution is essential to reach the 2030 Agenda [goals]."
"We will continue focusing our efforts on reducing all kinds of vulnerabilities, building capacities in all Peruvians to guarantee a safe, reliable environment for generations to come," she pointed out.
