Some 28 pickup trucks will be allocated within regions across the country in order to reinforce the national police's monitoring network and thus ensure safety of tourists visiting such sites.

Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Magali Silva, delivered today the first batch of 41 vehicles to the Interior Ministry in a bid to start implementing the preferential tourism corridor planned to link the Jorge Chavez International Airport with a wide range of key hotels and lodging houses distributed along the nation’s capital.

The initiative will run in cooperation with the Interior Ministry, the National Police, as well as regional and local governments in which jurisdiction visitors stay.

According to Silva, 14 out of the 41 pickup trucks will be deployed in Lima along the preferential tourism corridor comprising Faucett, La Marina, Pershing, Javier Prado Oeste, Paseo de la República and Benavides avenues.

“The remaining 27 will be used to embrace this experience in six other corridors across the nation,” Silva added.

These preferential routes include Tumbes-Piura, Lambayeque-La Libertad, Paracas-Nasca, Cusco-Madre de Dios, Arequipa-Cañón del Colca, and Juliaca-Puno.
