Peru: Air Force transported over 200 tons of aid

En el marco del ejercicio "Alas de Esperanza III", médicos de los Hospitales de Campaña Perú y Regional del Sur FAP, de las especialidades de pediatría, traumatología, dermatología, odontología, obstetricia, psicología, nutrición y farmacia atendieron a aproximadamente 75,000 personas de 240 distritos de las comunidades del sur.

As part of efforts to tackle frosts, Peru's Air Force (FAP) has so far transported over 200 tons of humanitarian aid to the country's southern regions.

Shipments comprise "Alas de Esperanza" (Wings of Hope III) disaster-prevention operation.

Within this framework, the initiative has benefited residents of: Arequipa, Cusco, Juliaca, Moquegua, Puno and Tacna regions.  

Relief aid is composed of blankets, mattresses, tents and staple products.  

Assistance has also included free-of-charge health care services linked to pediatrics, orthopedics, dermatology, dentistry, obstetrics and psychology, among other fields.

In this sense, health services protected some 75,000 people residing in 240 districts.

Relief measures are also supported by Peru's State-run National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) and regional governments, among other institutions.

Bringing hope
 
Wings of Hope III program is geared towards the optimization of the national Air Force's immediate response capacities to assist the population and government bodies in the event of large-scale natural disasters.
