As part of efforts to tackle frosts, Peruvian Air Force (FAP) on Tuesday will deliver 20 tons of blankets to southern Cusco region.
Afterwards, said aid will be distributed among citizens residing in vulnerable areas, especially those located at over 3,600 meters above sea level.
Aimed to prevent tragedies and emergency situations, the
initiative seeks to transport humanitarian aid to southern regions Arequipa, Cusco, Moquegua, Puno and Tacna.
According to official information, 150 tons of aid —composed of mattresses, ponchos, blankets and sweaters— have been distributed so far.
Relief measures are taken by Peru's State-run National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci), regional governments and local hospitals.
