Peru's total exports increased 29.6% in 2017's first quarter underpinned by the good performances of agriculture and fishery exports, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) reported.

"Exports growth is directly linked to the rebound of catches of [human] consumption species, which has been registering greater sea product shipments over recent months [...]," Adex President Juan Varilias stated.

Likewise, the businessman underlined non-traditional exports —in general— will experience a bounce back in the second quarter of this year, taking into account "Coastal El Niño" phenomenon impacts have already concluded.

In this sense, he projected crops will start to recover, and henceforth they will merge into an upward trend, thus boosting non-traditional shipments.

Lastly, Varilias noted traditional exports —mining sector and Peruvian coffee— registered good results in the first months of 2017, so the trend will remain "quite positive this year."
