Peru: 60% of foreigners visit Peru on vacations

60% of foreign tourists visit Peru for vacation purposes, according to the latest data by Euromonitor International and LatinFocus.

In this sense, the most preferred destinations by visitors are: Lima, as well as Southern Cusco and Puno regions. 

On average, international travelers spend 15.2 nights in the Andean country.

"We know the travel industry at global level has been increasing at a very fast pace over recent years, and the Peruvian market is not the exception," said Ezequiel Cademartori, Country Manager for Peru & Bolivia at Amadeus IT Group.

It must be noted Amadeus provides the technology which keeps the travel sector moving - from initial search to making a booking, from pricing to ticketing, from managing reservations to managing check-in and departure processes.

As for Peruvian citizens, 67% of them search for information before traveling and 34% of them travel alone.

Likewise, the report underlined 79% of Peruvian travelers reside in Lima.

Among most demanded foreign destinations, the United States, Colombia and Mexico stand out.
