The two men who abducted a five-year-old girl yesterday in Lima may belong to an international gang that kidnaps children whose parents are involved in disputes over custody.

Announcement was made by General Oscar Gonzales Rabanal, head of the Police Human Trafficking Research Department. The information hasn’t been confirmed yet and some details are being shared by the British police department, given that they are both English.

“One of the kidnappers arrived from Colombia 10 days ago and stayed in hotels in San Bartolo and San Borja [districts],” he said following the meeting between Adrianna and her mother Mary Ann Chacon Castañeda.

The minor was found in San Bartolo with her father Dustin William Kent and a British national, inside a car seized by the police. A neighbor called the police after she heard media reports of the kidnapping.

According to the police, the other man used to be a member of a British police agency, but he is now involved in such an illicit activity.

Apparently, the gang was planning to go to Bolivia by land. Money and passports were confiscated during the arrest.

The leader of this international organization is believed to be serving a jail term in the UK and the gang would have bought the flight tickets for one of the kidnappers.
