Economy and Finance Minister Alonso Segura reviewed the progress of the 2014-2018 Competitiveness Agenda as part of the third public accountability process, and reported 38% of the goals by 2018 have been achieved.

This progress contributes to three changes prompted by the Competitiveness Agenda: productivity of companies, territorial connection and efficiency of the State.

The efforts to increase business productivity are underpinned by the improved human capital that facilitates innovation processes, strengthens the quality national system, and enables productive coordination among companies, which results in the internationalization of companies.

The most significant progress in company productivity is witnessed in 512,000 high school students, who have employable skills, and obtained instruction in information and communication technologies (ICTs) and English.

Regarding health issues, 25.7 million people in Peru have health insurance.

As for quality and innovation, Segura highlights the approval of 367 new quality standards, 24 public Centers for Technological Innovation (CITEs) and 8 accredited private centers.

Territorial connection related efforts are aimed at improving transport and logistics infrastructure.

State efficiency oriented initiatives are focused on providing quality public services to citizens by promoting administrative simplification and introducing information and communication technologies, which will lead to a truly digital government.
