Peru 2017 export forecast revised upwards

Peru's Central Reserve Bank (BCR) revised up its 2017 export forecast, thus expecting sales to increase 5.9% to US$42.611 billion.

It must be noted BCR's March 2017 Inflation Report predicted exports would expand 4.2% to US$41.807 billion this year.

According to June estimates, traditional exports will amount to US$31.015 billion, while non-traditional ones will reach US$11.483 billion.

BCR also raised its export projection for 2018 from US$43.930 billion to US$45.409 billion. Therefore, Peruvian exports are expected to grow 4.4% next year.

June figures show imports will total US$37.736 billion in 2017 and US$39.209 billion in 2018, up by 2.9% and 3.5%, respectively.

On the other hand, BCR expects trade balance data to post a trade surplus of US$4.876 billion in 2017 and US$6.199 billion in 2018.
