Over 10,000 tourists, among domestic and foreign ones, visited the Paucartambo province (Southern Cusco region) during July's second and third week to celebrate the traditional Virgen del Carmen festivity.

According to the Regional Director of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur), Carlos Landauro, the amount of visitors means the traditional celebration represents faith and religion accompanied by a potential tourism attractiveness, which belongs to the purpose of diversifying the offer in the region.

Tourists, who arrived in the province, also visited other attractions, such as the Watoqto Archaeological Complex, the Ninamarca Chullpas, the Carlos the Third Colonial Bridge, the Paucartambo Temple and also enjoyed the 19 typical dances, which accompanied the Virgen del Carmen procession.

With this regard, Landauro mentioned the number of visitors tend increase each year thanks to the support provided by the Cusco regional government and to the promotional campaigns organized by Dircetur.
