Painting to be auctioned in favor of surf school children in Peru

12:48 | Lima, Oct. 29.

The original painting featuring the world-class point break and location of the Claro ISA 50th Anniversary World Surfing Games will be auctioned to raise funds for the Municipality Surf School of Punta Hermosa, Peru.

Thanks to the donation of this collection item by painter and top big wave rider, Flavio Caporali, children at this school will get to surf on boards that will be bought with the proceedings of the auction.

Having received so much from the Peruvian waves and the people of Punta Hermosa, the Brazilian painter decided to create the painting of the iconic Punta Rocas line-up, as he wanted to give back to the community.

“I have lived in Peru for many years, and I have ridden so many waves and had great friendships from all the local people I have met. Now I want to give something back to the community through my art, as a way of thanking them for the great experiences I have enjoyed here," Caporali said.

The money raised from the auction will benefit the surf school with the goal of purchasing 10 new surfboards for the Municipal Surf School of Punta Hermosa and equipment like wetsuits and wax.

Throughout the year the surf school offers free surf classes to underprivileged kids ranging from four years old to teenagers.

The school provides free surfboards and classes for local students that are not able to buy their own wetsuits or surfboards.

The primary goal of the school is to show the kids how to surf, but more importantly to develop the youth of Punta Hermosa.

This place gives an opportunity for kids to learn new skills with a healthy activity and stay away from bad habits.

It should be noted surfing has proven to be an option leading to a professional surfing career, as it has already been the case for many Peruvian surfers.

The original painting is available for auction on Ebay until this Saturday, November 1, at 8:45pm (local time) here.
