Companies from Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru sealed deals worth US$185 million at a Pacific Alliance macro-business round, according to trade the Promotion Entities ProChile, Proexport Colombia, ProMexico, and PromPeru.
"Preliminary figures indicate US$185 million in deals, of which US$14 million accounted for short-term sales," said CEO of ProMéxico, Francisco Gonzalez, on behalf of the four entities.

The regional event concluded today and brought together more than 480 leading companies from the four member countries of the trading bloc.

The Peruvian delegation, headed by deputy director of Trade Promotion at PromPeru, included 92 companies engaged in the country's sectors of services and manufacturing, such as textile and garment design.

The Promotion Entities of Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru have assumed the task of joint work in the promotion of exports, foreign direct investment, and international tourism in the Pacific Alliance.

Accordingly, during 2014, they were expected to develop an agenda that considers activities in 18 countries: Germany, Japan, Turkey, Russia, Canada, China, South Korea, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Spain, Australia, India, France, United Arab Emirates, and Switzerland.

Over 40 joint activities were planned for the four countries this year. These included macro rounds, forums, seminars, new markets and fairs -with emphasis on agribusiness.

In less than two years since its establishment, the achievements of the Pacific Alliance have led to increasing joint promotional efforts and activities in over 22 markets.

It should also be mentioned that the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has certainly been an important ally in carrying out the ambitious plans of the Promotion Entities of the Pacific Alliance.
