On Wednesday, the Pacific Alliance High-Level Group (GAN) welcomed Yasushi Takase, Director-General of the Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

The High-Level Group, composed of the bloc member-countries' Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, gathered at the first session aimed at assessing the advances regarding the implementation of the presidential agreements.

Once it was adjourned, the official photo was taken. Later, the GAN attended a second session.

Spaces for joint cooperation were identified at the technical meeting.

The gathering took place in the framework of the 10th Pacific Alliance Summit currently underway in Paracas city (Peru's Ica region).

Japan is one of the 32 Observer States at the Pacific Alliance, an economic bloc composed of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.

On Thursday, the officials will participate in the Meeting of the “Council of Ministers of the Pacific Alliance” where they will review the progress achieved by the technical groups and assess the new integration proposals.

Likewise, this Cabinet will submit a report on the state of the bloc to the Heads of State.

The Pacific Alliance is an economic and trade integration mechanism that seeks to build a deep integration area to achieve free movement of goods, services, capitals and people; as well as to promote greater growth, development and competitiveness of its economies.

Furthermore, it is aimed at becoming an economic, trade integration platform with worldwide projection and special emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region.
