Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Magali Silva, informed the government is undertaking an intense promotion plan of exportable supply to allow more than 3,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), mostly in the interior of the country, to generate sales worth over US$1.9 billion by 2025.

Silva detailed the plan is being implemented within the framework of the National Strategic Exports Plan (PENX) through the year 2025 and by Peru's Export and Tourism Promotion Agency (PromPeru), the Peruvian Trade Offices (OCEX) and business entities at the national level.

“The aim is to develop a internationalization strategic program to consolidate and quickly position SMEs into markets with which we have trade agreements, and enter new ones, taking into account the quality and differential advantages of our products,” Mincetur’s head added.

Such statements were made in her speech to the Commission of Foreign Trade and Tourism of the Congress, where she highlighted the Ruta Exportadora (Export Route) program will support more than 1,500 companies across the country this year.

“More than S/.800 million (US$258.6 million) in sales are expected to come from coffee, cocoa, maca, Andean grains and alpaca fiber exports,” she estimated.

She also noted the implementation of Apromaca, an initiative through which eight associations of maca growers from Junin and Cerro de Paco regions will initiate their internationalization process.
