Over 3,000 Peruvians received scholarships to study in the United States last year, and more university students are expected to take advantage of this opportunity within the framework of the International Education Week.

So far this year, Peruvian students have been awarded a total of 3,146 grants to study at universities across the United States.

Every year, more and more young students are applying for scholarships to pursue their postgraduate studies in the United States. Grant holders mainly come from Lima.

In addition, many more university graduates from across the nation, mainly from Lambayeque, are expected to do the same through the National Program for Scholarships and Educational Loans (Pronabec) and the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.

There is an Education USA advising center in different branches of the North American-Peruvian Cultural Institute (ICPNA) across the country.

This center, sponsored by the US government, offers free advising services to those wishing to explore post secondary educational opportunities in any of the 4000 universities in the United States.

Note that in order to be considered for a Fulbright scholarship, applicants must have high proficiency of English and good grades as well.

The scholarship covers the living and tuition expenses until the Master or Doctoral Degree program is over.

In Chiclayo, an informative workshop took place aimed at university, high school representatives and members of professional associations based in Lambayeque.

During the workshop, students who are currently enrolled in doctoral programs shared their experiences at US universities via Skype.

Scholars are also eligible for the Scholar-in-Residence Program and Fulbright NEXUS, a year-long grant with a 2-3 month exchange component focused on applied research.
