Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and Spanish counterpart Mariano Rajoy underscored the excellent level of bilateral relations and addressed various subjects of common interest at today's working meeting.
The gathering took place at Moncloa Palace, seat of the Spanish Government, within the framework of Mr. Kuczynski's official visit to said European nation.
The Peruvian leader arrived at 9:00 AM local time (2:00 AM in Lima).
He was received by Spanish Government President Mariano Rajoy at the Executive Branch's main building with a firm handshake.
Following greetings of respective delegations, Mr. Kuczynski signed in the Book of Honor.
Afterwards, the two leaders held a working meeting at Tapies Hall to discuss cooperation and bilateral relations between both countries.
Later, they had a working breakfast along with their respective delegations at the residence's dining room.
The Peruvian delegation was composed of Ministers Ricardo Luna (Foreign Affairs) and Alfredo Thorne (Economy and Finance), as well as Peruvian Ambassador to Spain Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde and International Affairs Advisor Roberto Rodriguez.
Spain was represented by Ministers Alfonso Dastis (Foreign Affairs and Cooperation) and Luis de Guindos (Economy, Industry and Competitiveness).
The visit —Kuczynski's first visit to Spain since taking office in July 2016— aims at strengthening bilateral ties, finding new ways of cooperation and promoting investments in Peru.
Economic relations are in good shape. From an investment point of view, Spain is Peru's largest foreign investor, since 20% of foreign investment in the Inca country is Spanish.
Moreover, the 78-year-old met Prisa CEO Juan Luis Cebrian and El Pais editor-in-chief Antonio Cano at Casino de Madrid.
The place hosted the forum "El Peru del Futuro" (Peru of the Future), where he was joined by Ministers Alfredo Thorne and Ricardo Luna.
