Official events surrounding Peru presidential inauguration

Official activities marking the handover ceremony kicked off on Wednesday after Heads of State conveyed greetings to outgoing President of Peru Ollanta Humala.

Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, major events are listed below.

Mr. Humala's participation in the Solemn Mass and Te Deum will open the celebrations for National Holidays at 8:00 a.m.

Whereas, President-elect Pedro Pablo Kuczynski will arrive at Torre Tagle Palace, Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry headquarters at 08:50 a.m. (local time).

Once there, Kuczynski will be decorated with the Order of the Sun of Peru in the Grade of Grand Cross and the Special Grand Cross Grade of the Order of Merit for Distinguished Service.

At 10:00 a.m., the Congress' Announcement Committee is expected to convene former Economy Minister at the Legislative Palace. 

The oath-taking ceremony for the new President and the ruling party is scheduled to take place at 10:30 hours. Subsequently, Vice-Presidents will be sworn-in as well. 

According to the official agenda, Kuczynski will give his first address to the Nation at 10:45 hours.

Later, at noon, the newly-inaugurated President will head to the Government Palace, where he will receive fraternal greetings from dignitaries. 

Following this act, Kuczynski will offer a luncheon to his guests at 13:30 hours. 

Cabinet's swear-in ceremony 

The swearing-in ceremony of the new Cabinet of ministers —led by Fernando Zavala— will take place at 4:40 p.m. at the Government Palace’ courtyard.

Afterwards, the hand-kissing ritual by high-level officers from 80 countries and national senior authorities will take place at 7:00 p.m.
