Peru’s fiscal management is quite good on a global basis and many first-world countries envy its progress, Director for Public Governance and Territorial Development of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Rolf Alter affirmed.

“Its achievements as a country are amazing, because if you compare Peru with many other countries around the world, there is no doubt it is well managed in terms of fiscal position,” he indicated.

During the launch of “Territorial Review”, a document that will analyze the country’s territorial development, Alter said that when compared to the 34 countries of OECD, most countries would be envious of Peru’s performance.

Despite such achievements, the Andean nation has some vulnerable areas such as its dependence on commodities, as is the case of other countries.

Territorial Review
As for the study to be implemented in Peru –which involves identification of key socio-economic trends and regional disparities– Alter will be in charge of monitoring the works, plans and projections of institutions linked to the territorial issue.

This work will review experiences of OECD member countries and will include detailed information of Peru as well.
