The Organization of American States (OAS) will dispatch a mission of 35 international experts to Peru to monitor the regional and municipal elections, scheduled for October 5th, 2014.

According to the OAS's website, Peru's National Jury of Elections (JNE) and the OAS signed Tuesday an agreement on electoral observation mission,  which will be deployed in the country to observe the regional and municipal elections.

The document was signed by the OAS representative in the Andean country, Pablo Zúñiga, and by the President of Peru's National Jury of Elections, Francisco Távara.

The agreement was signed following a request by the Peruvian Government  to deploy a group of international observers to the country.

Leading the electoral observation mission will be the renowned Uruguayan politician and lawyer, Sergio Abreu. The mission will begin its activities on Wednesday.

The group of experts will carry out a thorough and detailed analysis of the process in terms of electoral organization and technology, political and legal analysis, gender, political electoral financing, security, conflict resolution, and participation of under-represented groups.

On election day, observers will visit voting polls across the country.
