Director Generals of National Police Forces from 34 member states of the Organization of American States (OAS) will gather in Trujillo on April 23 and 24 seeking for further cooperation between police forces in the hemisphere.

Announcement was made by Deputy Minister for Internal Order of Peru’s Interior Ministry, General Mauro Medina Guimaraes, while making a presentation to the Committee on Hemispheric Security (CSH) of the OAS Permanent Council on preparations for the "Second Meeting of the Subsidiary Technical Working Group on Police Management."

While in Washington, Medina explained the Second Meeting of the Technical Working Group is part of the preparatory work for the V Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA V), to be held in Arequipa, Peru, on November 19 and 20, 2015.

After conveying the greetings of President Ollanta Humala and Interior Minister Jose Luis Perez Guadalupe, he added that these ministerial meetings are part of the region's efforts to jointly address the challenges, threats and concerns regarding security in the hemisphere.

The agenda and purpose of the Trujillo meeting is to take concrete steps towards effective cooperation and mutual support between police forces in the hemisphere.

The meeting will focus on three thematic areas: Hemispheric cooperation on police training, police management and well-being, social transformations and new trends in violence and crime in the Americas, and the role of rapprochement towards the community and crime prevention.
