The number of foreigners coming to work in Peru on a temporary basis or under a residency scheme has increased by 793% between 2004 and 2014, the National Superintendency of Migration reported.
While 1,463 foreign nationals got their work permit visa approved or changed their immigration status to worker in 2004, 13,065 individuals went through the same procedure to stay and work in Peru last year.
“Peru has become a very important work destination for foreign citizens who seek to develop their skills and talents in a serious country with a promising future. Their work not only helps them, but also contributes to our own development,” the National Superintendent for Migration Boris Potozen affirmed.
As for 2015 figures, in the first half of the year, 6,728 foreigners completed the procedure to work in Peru, 5,621 of which applied under the resident status and 1,107 as temporary workers.
Most individuals come from countries in South America (4,570) and Europe (1,254). Other 478 come from North America, 108 from Central America, 267 from Asia, 41 from Oceania and 10 from Africa.
