No Peruvians injured in Chile earthquake so far

08:16 | Lima, Sep. 17.

So far there are no reports on Peruvian casualties at Peru Consulates in Chile after strong quake rattled the neighboring country last night, Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

In a press release, the Ministry informed that Peruvian Consulates in Chile have activated emergency procedures to assist Peruvian community members that might have been affected by the seismic tremor.

In fact, shift systems have been established requiring personnel to work as the emergency continues.

“The Government of Peru expressed solidarity with the people of Chile and is willing to provide all necessary aid to help the government of that nation,” the document reads.

A magnitude-8.4 earthquake hit the coast of central Chile on Wednesday evening, which triggered tsunami warnings in Chile and Peru.
