Officials of Union City, located in New Jersey, United States, will hold a dedication ceremony on Monday, July 28, to commemorate the 193rd anniversary of Peru's independence from Spain.
In a recent article published by Hudsonreporter.Com, Mayor Brian Stack and the Board of Commissioners announced that Union City will hold a flag-raising ceremony observing Peru’s national holidays.

The event, to which all in the community are invited to attend, will take place at 12 p.m. local time at International Park located on Palisade Avenue and 38th St.

Besides the raising of the Peruvian flag, several guest speakers are expected to join the event.

In addition, a number of local Peruvian organizations will take part in the said ceremony that might be the closest resemblance to a Peruvian patriotic event for expats living in that city.

Previously, on July 20, Peruvian residents gathered in West Hudson at an annual parade celebrating the Andean nation's Independence Day.

The parade, sponsored by the Kearny-based Peruvian Civic Association of New Jersey, featured lively music, dancers, and groups such as civic organizations and running clubs.

According to the Jersey Journal,  the event also featured religious groups, beauty queens and a Peruvian teacher's association.
