Australia's MMG reaffirmed its commitment to working together with the Peruvian Government and communities to support dialogue and build solutions for the region, a press release by the mining company stated.

Following 10 days of regional unrest in communities along Las Bambas transport corridor, the Government and local communities have agreed a framework for future dialogue and cooperation in the region, MMG stressed.

"The process of restoring calm in local communities and the re-opening of essential infrastructure is now underway," it reads.

In this sense, the company expects that key road transport logistics will be progressively restored via an alternate route. People and supplies have begun to again move freely on local roads.

Concentrate trucking is expected to resume progressively in the coming days and shipments from the Port of Matarani should recommence during late October or early November, when sufficient quantities of concentrates have been delivered to the Port.

In this sense "the company remains committed to working together with Government and communities to support dialogue and build enduring solutions for the region."

The Government's proposal for Cotabambas, area hosting Las Bambas mining project, seeks to improve population's standard of living, in terms of health and education, Peru's First Vice-President Martin Vizcarra stated last weekend.

In this sense, the high-ranking official stressed the Government has listened to demands of said population and their authorities, and "we have identified with them."

Thus, the Executive requested 45 days to develop a comprehensive plan.
