This year’s edition of Mistura food festival, premier event of Peru’s culinary industry, has a renewed free app available for Android and iOS smartphones, which will help attendees fully enjoy the week-long fair.

The app called "Movistar Mistura 2014,” will provide useful information such as ticket prices, participating restaurants, food choices and an interactive map that will allow attendees to find stands and many other services easily.

The add is free and runs on Androids and iOS (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch) devices. Users will be able to connect it to facebook and post reviews of their favorite dishes.

Likewise, it will allow festival-goers to see last year's best food choices as well as to keep them informed in real time about what is happening inside the event, something that wasn't possible with the 2013 version.

"We want attendees to have access to useful information that will help them enjoy their visit," said Sergio Almallo, Vice President of Business and Marketing Communications at Movistar.

According to the phone operator, Mistura’s app downloads surpassed 50,000 in 2013, and this year’s total is expected to exceed that amount.

The 7th edition of Mistura is scheduled to take place from September 5-14 on the Costa Verde, located in Lima's seadside district of Magdalena del Mar. Entrance tickets will be S/. 25 (about US$9) for adults and S/.10 (about US$3.52) for children.

More than half a million people are expected to attend this major event in 2014, up from the 350,000 who came in last year.
