Ministry of Education to provide pedagogical support to over half a million students

The Ministry of Education affirmed pedagogical support assists 100% of the educational institutions on the Metropolitan Area of Lima and other different regions.
Personalized Training

The program intends to involve training in favor of teachers, in order to enable them to improve their techniques and teaching methodologies, which includes class sessions shares throughout the year.

Likewise, part of the pedagogical support includes setting session for parents meetings.
The gatherings are aimed to provide the parents clues on how to support their kids to in the homework solving.

Students will also receive after school classes to reaffirm their knowledge.

The meeting was attended by elementary school students of the schools attached to the Pedagogical Management units (UGEL) Nr. 1, 2, 5 and 6.
Representing UGEL Nr. 1 were Gustavo Lipa Mori and Xiomara Vargas.
UGEL Nr. 2, Cristina Asamacui and Gian Franco Astucurri.
UGEL Nr. 5:  Piero Andre Orozco and Cielo Chamara.
Also, Daira Paredes and Gustavo Garay represented UGEL Nr. 6.

In the meeting, Peru’s Education Minister, Jaime Saavedra, highlighted the recent Student Census Evaluation (ECE), in 2014, 44% of children attending second grade of primary school exhibited satisfactory performance in the comprehension of texts, while 26% of them reached the same level in mathematics.

That is an estimated 11% increase and 9% increase, respectively, compared to their performance in 2013.

The test took place on November 11 and 12 and assessed 517,000 second graders from public and private education centers.

It is used to keep track of children’s progress made throughout the time and, that is why Minedu provides a personalized report to assessed schools, teachers and parents.

In the case of second grade students from public schools, the increase stood at 10% in the satisfactory level both in reading comprehension and mathematics. As for private schools, the improvements rates were 10% and 6%, respectively.

In urban areas, the performance in reading comprehension and mathematics rose by 11 and 10 percentage points, respectively; while in rural education centers the improvements was 7 percentage points in both cases.
