An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale struck the Amazon region of Loreto, in northeast Peru, on Tuesday evening, Peru’s Geophysical Institute (IGP) said.
According to IGP, the tremor occurred at 23:21 hours (04:21 GMT) and went unnoticed by the local population.
