Former Mexican President Felipe Calderon claimed Peru is a role model in terms of development, during his speech at Peru’s major business conference, also Known as CADE.

Mr. Calderon underlined the greatest enemies of development are state and public monopolies, organized crime and extortive trade unions.

The presentation focused on three aspects he worked on during his administration: The rule of law, freedom- and competitiveness-generating economies, and practices that provide equal opportunities.

According to the former president, the rule of law helps reduce uncertainty among enterprises.

Calderon affirmed that countries adhering to the rule of law and legality grow 35% more than those that deny it.

“The legality and formality factor might allow our countries to grow a little more,” he said.

Remarks were made on Wednesday during his presentation at the 54th Annual Conference of Executives (CADE) 2016, taking place in the Paracas beach area a few hours from Lima.
