Several improvement works along the Pinchollo-Cruz del Condor vehicle-accessible road and the Viewpoint of the Volcanoes in Colca Canyon will be undertaken with the aim of improving travel conditions of tourists during their stay in Colca Canyon in Arequipa region.
Colca Autonomous Authority (Autocolca), entity managing the area, will carry out the works starting next week so that they are ready within a month.
According to Autocolca Manager Jorge Condori, maintenance works will entail a S/.720,000 (about US$220,000) investment by the managing entity.
Maintenance on the 19 km Pinchollo-Cruz del Condor highway includes works in the only vehicle-accessible road open to visitors interested in seeing the flight of the condor, a mythical Andean bird.
On the other hand, sanitary facilities will be improved in the Viewpoint of the Volcanoes, located in Patapampa sector, since this is a must stop-over for tourists visiting Ampato and Sabancaya volcanos.
