Peruvian boxer Linda Lecca successfully defended her WBA super flyweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Mexican Guadalupe Martinez at the Complejo Deportivo "El Cancherín" in Huarochirí, east of Lima, on Saturday evening.

All three World Boxing Association (WBA) judges favored the Peruvian and scored the ten-round bout 100-90.

The 26-year-old boxer controlled most of the fight, but her Mexican challenger showed terrific strength to withstand punishment.

Lecca threw a wide variety of punches and, as subsequently reported, beat her opponent in every round.

“I was calm and I knew what I had to do, everything went perfect. Linda Lecca has much more to offer and I hope people can always get to see me fight,” She told Frecuencia Latina TV channel.

Last June, Lecca became the absolute champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), after she secured a 10-round unanimous points victory over the Brazilian fighter Simone da Silva.

The Trujillo-born boxer gained her first world title as she defeated her Brazilian opponent by unanimous decision. The judges favored her 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91.
