Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are among the Arab countries willing to sign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (BIPA) with Peru as it has become a highly dynamic economy, Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Sunday.

The Ministry’s Foreign Investment Promotion Director, Arturo Jarama, stated the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has also expressed its interest to conduct such negotiations.

Precisely, in order to promote a closer relation, the Chancellery has opened new Peruvian embassies in Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, and a Consulate General in Dubai (UAE), which also has a commercial office to boost bilateral trade which is still very low, stated Jarama.

In addition, Peru is seeking to attract more Arab investments in all sectors, mainly in infrastructure, agribusiness and energy, he added.

The III ASPA CEO Summit, which represents a first steep to achieve this goal, starts Monday with a Business Forum, which will be opened by President Ollanta Humala along with the Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs of the Arab League, Mohamed At-Twaijrius.

This forum will focuses on Infrastructure, food Security, Future of Energy and Natural Resources.
