Investment made by Israeli companies in Peru is expected to reach US$ 2 billion over the next years, the Ambassador of the Middle East nation to Peru Modi Ephraim said on Saturday.
"Daily, we receive the visit of Israeli entrepreneurs who are eager to participate in the economic development taking place in Peru. Thus, we want to double the US$ 1 billion investment of 2013," Ephraim told Andina news agency.
He lauded the remarks delivered by the Peruvian leader Ollanta Humala at a business forum attended by leading representatives and senior officials of the major Israeli firms within the framework of the president's first-ever Middle East tour.
During his official visit to Israel, the head of Peru's Administration deepened the two countries' bilateral ties by broadening cooperation in several core areas ranging from education to agriculture and showcasing the investment opportunities that the Andean nation offers.
"A large-scale Israeli company holds a natural gas plant project in the energy sector of the country's southern Arequipa region," the diplomat noted.
Furthermore, Ephraim hailed the Pacific Alliance trading bloc as a key factor for sparking development and economic growth in the region, taking into consideration Israel has been accepted as an official observer.
