U.S. leading restaurant website Eater.com has designed the interactive map "Where to Eat Peruvian Food Around Washington, D.C." that encourages readers to explore the flavourful cuisine of Peru, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) informed.

“Eater.com has about 11 million unique visitors per month and has enlisted a team of critics, editors and videographers specialized in gastronomy in the United States,” Mincetur’s head Magali Silva stated.

“The fact that the portal highlights our gastronomy by compiling a special list of 10 Peruvian restaurants is such an important thing,” she added.

The article emphasizes that “few meals can reenergize eaters like fresh fish and chilled potatoes accompanied by a Pisco sour,” referring to the consumption of ceviche during the warm weather.

It also states Peru is a “South American gem [that] evokes vivid images of the Amazon, Andes, miles of coastline, and plenty of sunshine.”

The article explains that food tourism is a reality in the Andean nation, but for those unable to make the journey, Washington D.C. has an abundance of dining options.

“Whether it’s creative dishes from renowned chef José Andrés, to long-time local favorites owned by Peruvian families, the taste of this world-class destination is only a metro ride away,” reads the introduction to the list.

The map includes a tour through Chicken Rico — a Peruvian restaurant specializing in roast chicken, Known as “polleria” by most Peruvians— and Nikkei and Chifa food options, such as China Chilcano. The list also mentions the popular food trucks available in the city.

This publication joins other previous articles the U.S. media has disseminated over the past months, as is the case of PureWow, which includes ceviche in its 21 Things All Foodies Need to Eat Before They Die list.
